Domaine Rieflé - Alsace Lieu - Dit Steinstuck 2017
Score : 92 points
Luminous straw-green. Very fresh flowers and lime on the enticing nose. Enters bright and fresh, then turns richer and denser, but lively acidity really lifts and extends the pomaceous fruit and mineral flavors on the long, zingy, juicy back end. From sandstone-limestone soils, this boasts lively but harmonious acidity that makes it taste absolutely dry (the back label reads 1 on the 1-to-4 sweetness scale, where 1 is driest and 4 is sweetest). 100% Riesling. The Steinstuck is an outstanding site: it is the prolongation of one of Alsace’s most noteworthy grand crus, the Zinnkoepflé, but tends to give slightly sturdier, larger-framed wines than the grand cru.
