Score : 92 pointsFermented and aged in old barriques and bottled under the Seppi Landmann label, the 2015 Riesling Steinstück is sourced in the potential Westhalten premier cru and delivers a very clear, pure, flinty and subtle bouquet with stony/herbal flavors. Powerful and intense on the palate, with perfectly ripe stone fruit aromas, this is a straight and expressive Riesling with a full and persistent body, a firm mineral and phenolic grip, with enormous grip and vital acidity. This is a very promising Riesling that will be marketed only in spring 2017. Jean-Claude Rieflé ferments this sandstone Riesling in small wood to get it onto the dry side, since he does not want to have residual sugar in it. To balance the high acidity he is stirring the lees instead of balancing it with sugar.
