Note: 87+ pointsBright straw-gold. Subtle aromas of apple, jasmine and honeysuckle. Showing a rather powerful acid spine today, this is bracing and sharp on the back end, finishing with a juicy whiplash of crushed-stone salinity and very lemony near-tartness, and not all that balanced right now. This 100 percent Riesling will need time to help soften its rapier-like acidity. The Steinerts' calcaire oolithique soils typically give very lemony wines, but this I find this amount of lemoniness to be excessive and disjointed. I hadn’t tasted this 2014 last year, as it had just been bottled when I visited the winery. It still needs lots of time to come together. Only 3,000 bottles made per year.
